There have been rumors about Microsoft developing a computerized watch for years. And a new portion of unofficial information was published by Forbes with a reference to informed sources.

According to the report, the wearable gadget that is being designed by the software giant will be able to synch not only with Microsoft?s own Windows Phones but also with the rival iPhones and Android phones. The device itself will be loaded with sensors, including optical ones, designed by Xbox Kinect team. Those will monitor user?s physical condition, constantly measuring their heart rate and other parameters.

The sources claim that the Microsoft?s smart watch will look similar to the Samsung Gear Fit and feature a touch screen positioned on the inside of the wearer?s wrist to make it easier and to view notifications and add to privacy. Such design is rather unusual as all the wrist worn gadgets currently available look more like conventional watches.

Forbes didn?t name the operating system which is going to be installed on the wearable device. It is not impossible that the manufacturer chooses to use an abridged version of their own Windows RT.

Microsoft has not yet decided on an exact release date of its smart watch, but according to rumors, it hopes to show the device this summer.
