MODR: the World?s First Modular Smartphone Case

Project Ara, the modular smartphone by Google, is still underway. However, the search giant is not the only company that favors the idea of modularity and interchangeability of various parts of the mobile devices. The MODR company has introduced a modular case which is compatible with devices running iOS and Android.
Without any additional sections connected, MODR is just a plastic case with slots on its back side. A possible option of the module is an external portable battery, which is attached to the rear surface of the case and connected to an iPhone via a Lightning port. Its capacity is 3000 mAh. The modules adding to the smartphone a powerful flashlight, a SD card slot and a microUSB port are also available.
The developers offer a module designed to expand the range of the device?s features for photo and video shooting. With its help, you can connect interchangeable lenses to your smartphone. The set includes a mini fisheye lens, a telephoto lens, and a wide-angle and macro lens. What is more, the case sports a module for wireless charging which supports the Qi standard.
The manufacturer is planning to release the modules with an HDMI connector and a pico projector. Unfortunately, the date of the start of the MODR sales is still unknown.
