New York Received More Public Charging Stations for Mobile Devices

The largest U.S. operator AT & T has expanded the network of public charging stations named Street Charge. Located all around New York the chargers receive energy from solar panels and allow bypassers to refill their mobile electronic devices batteries with free energy.
The Big Apple already has 45 Street Charge stations, which is twice more than a year ago – the initiative was first piloted in 2013. This year, the operator introduced a new generation of stations that are weather-prooof.
Street Charge has six blocks of connections. The interfaces supported include: the Lightning, the 30-pin connector for the iPhone and iPad, the microUSB connector suitable for most Android and Windows Phones, as well as the USB-port that can be used to charge other gadgets via a cable with a proprietary connector. The station also has regular 2A outlets, that can be used to recharge the iPad.
The electricity is generated with three solar panels of 15 W capacity and stored in the battery of 168 Wh capacity. The accumulated energy is sufficient to power up to six devices for a few days even in the lack of sunlight.
The first Street Charge station was opened in 2013 in the Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn. The mobile operator plans to expand the street charging stations network further.
