According to some network sources, the manufacturing of displays for the next generation Apple iPad Air tablets will have begun by the end of June.

The new mini-computers are expected to inherit major design elements from their predecessors. The specifications of Retina screen will also remain unchanged; it will be a 9.7-inch (diagonal) screen with the resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels (264 ppi). The panel will feature an anti-fingerprint oleophobic coating.

It is noted that the manufacturing of processors and camera modules, another key components for the new iPad Air, will start in July.

According to preliminary data, the devices will feature A8 64-bit chips, not A7 chips used previously. This will improve energy efficiency and therefore extend battery life.

The resolution of iSight, the main camera, is rumored to increase from present 5 to 8 million pixels. The quality of images taken in poor light conditions will be improved due to a larger sensor. As for FaceTime, the front camera, its resolution can be increased from 1.2 to 1.5 million pixels.

It is also reported that the new tablets are likely to feature Touch ID, a fingerprint sensor for identification the users by their fingerprints, in the Home button.

According to web sources, the next generation iPad Air will be announced by the end of the third or early in the fourth quarter of 2014.
