Nexus 5 vs iPhone 5S Specs Head To Head

Nexus 5 vs 5C Nexus 5 vs iPhone 5S Specs Head To Head

The long-waited Nexus 5 from Google, developed with LG, is now out and so far it seems to be an awesome handset. Last week, the Nexus 5 came out of the box running Android’s new 4.4 Kit Kat software and we’re going to find it available in a lot more carriers than any other Google smartphone. Of course, at the moment the main competition is represented by Apple’s iPhone 5S, previously released in September. So, we are going to confront them and see which one deserves to be called smartphone of the year.

Just as expected, the Nexus 5 has been definitely been improved compared to previous Google smartphones. Developed in partnership with LG, the device sports a 5 inch screen with 1080p and full HD screen. As for the internal components, the Nexus 5 is powered by a Snapdragon processor of 2.26 GHz, an Adreno 330 for better graphics and a processor Krait 400 of 2300 MHz. RAM size is, of course, 2GB.

As for the iPhone 5S, the upgrade from the iPhone 5 isn’t that remarkable. Its screen size is still 4 inches and features a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels (326 ppi). When compared to Android displays, the iPhone screen size is definitely on the small side of the scale. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook mentioned during an event earlier this year that a bigger display may arrive with some compromises such an increase in battery consumption, probably a darker display and a lower image quality.

Powered by an Apple A7 processor, structured on a 64 bit architecture and an secondary M7 motion processor, which can tell if the user is either driving, running or walking.

During the benchmark test held by GFXBench, both devices were pretty close in results. While the Nexus 5 got the result of 23.1 frames/sec, the iPhone 5S was right behind it at 23 frames/sec, meaning that both smartphones are in tops when it comes to performance and speed, but if we would consider Nexus 5′s resolution we can actually say that it runs faster than the iPhone 5S.

Also, the Nexus 5 powers an 8MP camera which allows the device to offer fast motion images and better quality in pictures when the lighting isn’t so good.

The iPhone 5S on the other hand, features an 8MP camera with dual LED support and a resolution of 1920×1080, HD rendering of 1080 p at 30 frames per second.

As for the prices, you should know that the 16GB version of the Nexus 5 is $350 off the contract (this cheap compared to other smartphones launch prices) and will be available for  pirchasing in T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T carriers.

Android phones manufacturers increase sales by breaching into new markets all over the world. As Sundar Pichai, the head of Google’s Android apartment said, their goal is to reach the one billion Android users milestone by 2014. So, just as the Android Kit Kat 4.4 was designed for a large range of Android devices, the Nexus 5 comes as another tool to helkp increase the population in Android environment.

Now that you know a bit more about the Nexus 5, would you buy the device?
