Official Google X Phone Release Date Confirmed

As you probably remember, a year ago there were some rumors related to an enigmatic smartphone co-designed by Motorola and Google. A few days ago Dennis Woodside – the CEO of Motorola, finally made an official announcement related to the so waited device. It looks like the new X Phone will have a release date some time this summer, moreover the phone will be found as Moto X and as we could find out it seems that it will be fabricated in the United States.
The announce related to the release date of the new Motorola X Phone (Moto X) was made by Dennis Woodside at D11 conference during an interview, but as far as we could see the CEO kept the details about their new flagship device unveiled. However, it looks like the X Phone is planned to be a high-end smartphone that it’s expected to compete with the well known flagship smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy 4 and Apple`s iPhone 5S, according to Motorola official. Even though Dennis Woodside didn’t mention anything clear related to the specs of the new X Phone, there was a feature that was mentioned and it refers to the OLED display that will be sported by the device. As far as we could find out, it looks like the display will come with a smart contextual software which allows the users to see where and how to use their device. Moreover, it seems that Motorola concentrated on the battery life and the durability of the handset, which actually confirms some of the rumors we’ve heard in the last year.
According to the Motorola official the X Phone will be assembled in a factory in Texas, Fort Worth – United States, factory that not long ago was used by Nokia. As far as we could find out from Dennis Woodside’s announcement, it looks like the OLED display panel and the processor will be imported. Actually, according to Woodside it seems that 30% of the components used for the X Phone will be imported.
Even though Moto X is expected to be a high-end smartphone, Denis Woodside underlined the fact that Motorola is also concentrating its attention in a market area for affordable but well assembled handsets, which is a very promising segment as the company says.
The X Phone release date was expected some time in October due to the first announcement made related to this smartphone, but, meanwhile a press release was posted by Motorola and as we could see the Moto X will be launched some time in the summer and the users all over the world will be able to acquire it.
We are sure you’re eager to hear about the last rumors related to Motorola X Phone. Well, it looks like Motorola is planning something amazing if the rumors are true. The new Motorola X Phone is alleged to be a very flexible device when it comes to its specs, and it looks like the users will have the opportunity to choose hardware features they want on their smartphone, such as: the processor, internal storage, the amount of RAM, the screen size or even the color. Maybe you’re wondering how did this rumor start. As we could see, there was a Google Plus post made by a Motorola official, and the post was asking the users how would it be to have a smartphone specially customized for their own needs, in the same way we customize our cars for example.
According to the statement of Larry Page from Google, all the up-to-date smartphones have the same major issue: the durability and the battery life of the device. After this statement was launched, the media came up and interpreted the message by imagining a X Phone handset that will be dust and water resistant, and will sport a large battery similar to the one that the Droid RAZR Maxx phones have. There were some speculations related to the fact that the new X Phone will sport a non-breakable flexible screen.
The rumor mill goes further and give us some details related to the processor that the Motorola X Phone (Moto X) will sport. It looks like the new flagship device from Motorola will be released with a Tegra 4 CPU, along with Snapdragon 600 or Snapdragon 800 from Qualcomm. And, considering the rumors about a customizable device, maybe all these specs will be available and the users will have the possibility to choose the one that fits their needs.
Now, if we think of the fact that the most important feature in today’s high-end devices is the LTE support, we are tempted to believe that the Tegra 4 SoC is not an option for the new Moto X, because the Nvidia chipset is not handling the LTE support. But, there are chances for the Tegra 4i to be taken into consideration by Motorola. Meanwhile, it’s most likely for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and Snapdragon 600 chipsets to be used, due to the fact that Motorola is usually using the Qualcomm SoCs for their devices. Moreover, the X Phone is expected to be a high-end phone so it’s most likely that Motorola will use one of these two chipsets (the Snapdragon 600 or Snapdragon 800) which are some of the best available on the market when it comes to the processor power.
However, if you ask us, Motorola should choose the Snapdragon 800 for its X Phone to sport, if they want to really compete with the iPhone. And, as far as we can remember, Qualcomm made an announcement during the CES 2013, where the company said its new high-end chipset – the Snapdragon 800 will be launched in the summer for the first time. Now, it could be a coincidence but the X Phone is expected to be released in the summer as well.
When it comes to the screen that will come with the Moto X, the rumors are vague. We know from Larry Page that the flagship will sport an OLED display panel, but we don’t know anything related to the size of the screen. And, according to Larry Page the screen of the smartphone co-designed by Motorola and Google will have “the right” size. But we don’t have any clue on what the right size means for Google and Motorola. But, if we think that the previous two Nexus devices were released sporting a 4.65 and 4.7-inch displays, we are tempted to believe that the new Motorola X Phone could feature a 4.7-inch OLED screen panel, full HD, and having a front panel without any button included. As far as we know, this is Google’s desire when it comes to its smartphones.
According to Dennis Woodside, Google is treating Motorola in the same way they treat any other smartphone manufacturer, but as far as we know Google would love for sure if their little project would gain a big part from the Samsung market area. And, as you probably remember the X Phone was said to be released with stock Android, and that it will be one of the first devices that will have access to the Android updates, in the same way the Nexus smartphones do. When it comes to the software that will come along with the device, we don’t know exactly what is the matter with that ‘know what you want to do before you do’ feature of the Moto X, but we really hope that will be something great and that it will not interfere with the plan of the company to release the Android updates in time.
Maybe we should take into consideration the fact that the Android 4.3 Jellybean is expected to be released next month, and the rumors say Google might use this minor update of Android 4.2. for its new flagship smartphone – the Moto X phone.
