Samsung Blames iPhone 6 For Galaxy S5 Declining Demand

As reported by UDN with the reference to sources among Taiwanese suppliers, Samsung has reduced manufacturing orders for Galaxy S5, its flagship smartphone, by 25% in the third quarter. The figure is quite big; in fact, it means that only 15 million smartphone units of will be released in the next quarter. The cutback of production affected the last year’s Galaxy S4 model as well ? 5,000,000 units will be produced in the third quarter.
According to UDN, the South Korean manufacturer has to reduce the amount of the flagships produced due to the decline demand among the buyers, expecting a forthcoming announcement of iPhone 6. It is believed in Seoul that by fall, many consumers would prefer to hold on and wait for the release of the Apple smartphone and keep from buying phones of other brands.
As previously reported, iPhone 6 will be announced in the first half of September. The device is expected to get a completely new design, a 4.7-inch screen, a new generation A8 processor, an NFC module and an 8-megapixel camera with improved image stabilization.
In May Samsung officially announced that the sales of Galaxy S5 were at a record pace. According to the manufacturer’s information, they managed to sell over 11 million of these devices a month after its launch. The high selling potential of Galaxy S5 is a result of preliminary agreements with most of the mobile service providers, as well as the company’s more thorough marketing and logistics preparation for the release. Samsung began selling the new product in 125 countries at the same time, which none of the manufacturers had done before.
Samsung say that the sales of Galaxy S5 are particularly eminent in the USA, UK and German markets.
