Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Rumors Roundup – Release Date & Specs

Note 3 400x250 Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Rumors Roundup Release Date & Specs

We are sure that you have heard by now, considering the amount of rumors circulating online at the moment, that Samsung still has a few ace cards up its sleeve, ready to be pulled in 2013. If you have read the Diplomat, you know about almost every smartphone Samsung could release this year. One of those smartphones is the Galaxy S4 Active, which is actually the mini variant of the Galaxy S4. Another rumored smartphone is the Galaxy Zoom, which has as a main feature an improved camera.

With no  doubt, Samsung’s most rumored and chattered smartphone of the year 2013 is the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Samsung’s Note phablet line represented a huge success for the company and we are sure that they will release on the market in the third or fourth quarter of 2013, the third phablet of that series. However, the biggest question that remained unanswered by now is if Samsung is going for something completely new with this device, or if they are going to do the usual improvements (updated software and hardware specs) and keep the same base. At the moment, we are evaluating the newest rumors regarding the phablet’s display technology and design quality, both of them being as important in establishing Note 3′s success.

Flexible display – Will the Galaxy Note 3 sport one?

As you probably know, the rumors in the  past months have been talking about a Note 3 that will sport an unbreakable or flexible display. Keep in  mind though, that this kind of suggestion is far from being new. This kind of speculation has been scratching the surface for quite a while now, the first time we recall about it is when Samsung along with other manufacturers presented a similar technology during some technological events.

We’ve heard similar rumors before Galaxy S3′s release, but those didn’t materialize so those rumors were redirected towards the Samsung Galaxy S4. The flexible screen didn’t materialize in this device either, but of course, some suggestions were stating that the Galaxy Note 3 is going to have a built in flexible screen. However, the latest leaks regarding the device are claiming that this one isn’t going to sport the much waited flexible screen either.

Recently, on Oled-Displays.net Sam Mobile confirmed that Samsung is getting ready to launch on the market the first smartphone of 6 inches, and that is, of course, the Galaxy Note 3. The bad news regarding the matter is that Samsung seems to be facing some serious issues in the production of those flexible screens. With that in the way, we are now expecting for the phablet to come out of the box with the same AMOLED display its predecessors had.

Besides, it seems that LG has supposedly met similar problems, so the chances of us seeing such a feature in any smartphone by the end of 2013 are almost non-existent.

Will the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 be Premium Built or Plastic?

Another alleged characteristic of the Note 3, one that would impress anyone would be the usage of premium materials in the design of its case.

The first rumors regarding the phablet were pointing towards Samsung’s desire to change the feeling of cheap plastic case starting with the Note 3, as a response to the positive feedback HTC received from both the critics and the costumers when they switched to the premium design on the HTC One.

A series of rumors were pointing towards Samsung working on several prototypes of the Note 3, one of them using a new design and a metal embodiment.

Sadly, the idea that the Note 3 will be sporting a new premium design failed, just as the flexible display.

In their latest report regarding Samsung, Sam Mobile stated that according to their internal sources, the company isn’t willing to drop its well known design yet. They claim, that even though the South Korean manufacturer experimented versions of the design and different materials for the Note 3 phablet, the device will come out with a design similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S4. According to those reports, Samsung isn’t able to manufacture enough metal cases until the release of the device. Another option could have been the delay of Note’s release, but Samsung took another turn.

A good thing we could find in the same reports is that the Note 3 will have powerful Octa -core processor incorporated, one made of two separate quad core units, which run on 1.9 GHz and 1.6 Ghz. We should also see a rear camera of 13 MP, and a front sensor of 2 MP. In addition, the device will have the latest Android powered software and a brand new TouchWiz UI.

Bottom line is that we cannot rely completely on these information. The point is that if Samsung doesn’t come up with anything innovative this time either, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is going to be a huge disappointment for tech geeks all over the world.

Do you believe that Samsung missed an opportunity, or do you believe that regardless to its screen type and design quality, the Note 3 will be a success if the internal hardware is upgraded? Tell us in the comment section below what do you expect to see in this new phablet, or what would make you want to have one?
