Samsung Galaxy S5 And Galaxy Note 4 Rumors Could Both Pack A 16 Megapixel Camera

For 2014 Samsung has got some pretty neat flagship handsets for 2014, that include the next-generation models of the Galaxy S and Note series also known as the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4. But that is not the big news here. The big news is that these handsets are very likely to feature 16-megapixel cameras with optical image stabilization. The OIS technology rumor was released in report that came from Korea’s ETNews just this past Tuesday.
Moreover the report stated that Samsung had just ordered around 181 million OIS 16-megapixel modules, but it did fail to mention who would be supplying this large amount of display components.
In a more recent report from the same publication it was said that Sony and Samsung’s LSI division were now competing to become a supplier for the improved camera modules. It was said that these camera modules were to be made for the Galaxy S5.
And with Sony’s reputation of being the first company you chose when you want mobile camera sensors, who could doubt the rumors? The sensors that Sony had been making can be found on many top-line handsets such as LG G2, Nexus 5, iPhone 5S, Galaxy S4 and Note 3. But while all this was happening, Samsung LSI not too long ago unveiled the ISOCELL mobile camera technology. This is the type of technology that will be used for CMOS image sensors and it is a new and advanced type of pixel technology. And it just may be that this will be the reason why Samsung will have to go with the latter variant. At least, this is the opinion of Phone Arena who has issued this report.
Other reports that came to light not so long ago, said that the upcoming Galaxy S5 could have a 64-bit Exynos processor, a 16-megapixel camera with OIS technology, 4GB of RAM and a fingerprint scanner. And to top that all of it also mentioned that it could benefit from the rumored Design 3.0 phase metallic chassis. This report was highly optimistic as it even made mention of the fact that it expects Samsung to release the Galaxy S5 in January of next year with a launch expected in February of the same year.
But SamMobile seems to have prepared for this argument also and begs to differ. It stated that every Galaxy Note model has had the same camera as the Galaxy S model released in the same year for quite some time now. So the possibility of a 16-megapixel camera to be featured on the Galaxy S5 next year is not very likely. It is also not very likely for the Note 4 to have one as well.
Rumors also speculate that Samsung will likely sell around 360 million smartphones next year. And out of all of those only 126 million will be highly priced devices. The company is also expected to be paying more attention now to the Galaxy Note 12.2 which has been speculated to go into production by the end on this year.
