Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date Nears – Possible Specs

Samsung Galaxy S5 400x250 Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date Nears Possible Specs

We all know it is not that time of year when the Samsung Galaxy S5 is said to be released. But luckily for us, a recent news report straight from South Korea suggests that the new device might be coming out a little bit sooner than we were expecting.

The infamous website Naver, indicates that the Samsung Galaxy S5 might actually be scheduled to be introduced in January of next year and to be released a month later from that. This is actually quite sooner than we expect given the fact that the previous Galaxy S devices have been introduce to the public a bit later than that. Take for example the Samsung Galaxy S4 that was introduced in March and released a month after in April. Also, the Samsung Galaxy S3 was unveiled in the begging of May last year and released towards the end of the same month.

The Specs

Also from the Naver we have news of several suggested specs for the new Samsung Galaxy S5, that have recently popped up on the internet. Apparently the Samsung Galaxy S5 will come with a metal exterior and the 64-bit Exynos 5430 “true eight-core” processor. On top this it is also rumored to feature a 16-megapixel camera that includes optical image stabilization and what we consider to be a major plus, the fingerprint scanner everyone is talking about these days.

It seems that after Samsung learnt that the Exynos 5410 chipset could only utilised four of its eight-cores at one time it went on to design and make the Exynos 5420. The new processor could this time around utilise all of its eight cores at the same time. On the other hand it can only use all of its eight cores or four-cores based upon the functions. So it looks like the Exynos 5430 will take after its predecessor in this manner. For now you can take a look at the Exynos 5420 processor in the 3G version of the Galaxy Note 3. The LTE version unfortunately only features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

But one thing is for sure, we can definitely count on rumors will propose a Qualcomm LTE equivalent for the Galaxy S5 eventually even more so when Qualcomm recently made a statement saying that the 64-bit processors may very well be launching sometime soon.

But when you take a closer look at the rumors that have spread you will see that it was suggested in the past that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was going to come with a 16-megapixel camera with OIS. In the end it a 13-megapixel camera was only introduced by Samsung on the Galaxy S4. The latest rumors shouldn’t be too far off the subject as they have been in the past, as they come off saying that lens will stay at 13-megapixel but will also include Optical Image Stabilization and also an improved version of the low-light image capture ability.

Recent information also shows that the fingerprint scanner technology was done away with in the early developmental stages of the Galaxy Note 3. This was due to the inability to pass certain quality tests that were necessary for the Galaxy Note 3, so Samsung decided it was best to go ahead and build it without it. But as Apple has recently released the iPhone 5S with fingerprint scanner it seems that Samsung will shortly follow and revisit this idea and perhaps even include it in new devices to come out, maybe even the Galaxy S5.

Is a Samsung Galaxy S5 February Release Date Too Soon?

Preceding information has shown that the Galaxy S5 will launch around the second quarter of next year, which matches the period from April to June. To explain this further a little bit,the financial second quarter does not correspond with the U.S. fiscal second quarter, which starts somewhere around the 1sy of January 1 and goes on until March the 31st. On the other hand, most information we have been able to get does not say in a very explicit manner which quarter they are referring tp.ate to which quarter they are referring. But if rumors were true and Samsung did release the Galaxy S5 in February as rumored, it would still be within a second quarter as to what everyone is concerned about.

As to what concerns the report, Samsung was said to be pushing for an early release of the Galaxy S5 to battle the believed rather disappointing sales of the Galaxy S4. This is of course a story we have heard many times before and that has been intensely advertised online. The Galaxy Note 3 however was only released between the end of September and early-October, when in fact rumors were saying that it will come out in July or August to make up for the disappointing sales of the Galaxy S4. Even so, the Galaxy S4 has sold more than 20 million handsets ever since it was released and moreover most of them were sold within the first two months after it came out. Also, Samsung has strongly stated that the Galaxy S4 has not had any problems selling on the market.

Another one of everyone’s favorite device is the Galaxy S3 that was also reported to suffer from the low sales it provided for Samsung. This also came to give birth to a lot of rumors that hinted towards a Galaxy S4 launch earlier than expected. But to tell you the truth, the Galaxy S3 is actually considered one of the best-selling and also one of the fastest smartphones of its time. It has sold over 50 million handsets since it was released and 20 million units in the first three months. While these reports will for now remain in the rumor department as Samsung has yet to make any statement about its new device, it wouldn’t be surprising at all if they all turned out to be not entirely true as this has happened before in the past.

Some Reports Say Otherwise

Other recent information states that the development stage for the Galaxy S5 is very likely to continue in 2014 as well. This report can also be backed up by the fact that Samsung has been said to be currently looking for metal suppliers that can produce aluminum chasses. This could be well intended to be included in the Galaxy S5 and as deal are expected to be finalized in the beginning of next year it seems more likely that these reports are right and the others are not. It is also expected that the new, updated version of the 13-megapixel camera is also expected to go into production in the beginning of 2014.

It is still to early to say which rumor is true and which is not, but based on the fact that Samsung is quite an habitual company we can predict that it will go along and follow the same course of action as it has with it previous releases. Apart from that, if Samsung were indeed very concerned with its sales, it wouldn’t go and truncate the Galaxy Note 3 sales.

So what are your thoughts on this? Do you think the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be released earlier than we expect? Let us know all about it in the comment section below.
