As you all know by now, this year the annual developer conference held by Google in San Francisco, California, Google I/O, will be held on June 25 and June 26, and will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, just like last year. You may know that Google changed the registration process for this year’s Google I/O. Registration for last year’s Google I/O developer conference was over in 45 minutes, which is why Google intends to have a much longer “open” period, since they are just going to do random selection and it won’t be first come first serve as last year.

The registration for last year’s Google I/O conference got sold out in about 45 minutes, with the site crashing. That is why Google decided to have a more  “open” period, with a random selection unlike the first come first serve as last year. This change in the registration process gives anyone a fair chance of being able to attend the Google I/O conference and even if you aren’t lucky enough to be selected to attend the conference, you will be able to watch a live stream of the keynotes and sessions.

Google was supposed to open the lottery for this year’s Google I/O developer conference on April 8th, but decided to delay the date by a week, so the lottery for this year’s Google I/O developer conference tickets opened yesterday, on April 15th. The registration for this year’s edition of Google I/O opened yesterday at 4 PM PT and it will close two days from today, on April 18th, at 2 PM PT. Google is not the only company that decided to try a different selection process for its 2014 conference; Apple is also using a random selection process to choose the participants to this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). So, if you want to attend this year’s Google I/O conference you have until this Friday to apply for a ticket.

Regarding what to expect from this year’s Google I/O conference, we know that the focus is going to be on “design, development, and distribution“. What that mans we will most likely find out at the event, but we hope that Google I/O 2014 will be where Android 5.0 is unveiled. Last year’s Google I/O conference debuted with the release of Google Play Music (an online music streaming service from Google) and the Chromebook Pixel, which was also distributed to attendees. The 2013 Google I/O also saw the announcement of a series of updates for Android, Chrome OS, Google Chrome and other Google services.

If you want to apply you should apply as soon as possible, before the April 18th deadline of the registration process. If you are wondering when the lottery winners are going to be announced, it won’t take long according to Google, as the company announced that all selected winners will be notified about three days later, on April 21st. As we already mentioned, this year’s Google I/O conference will be held from June 25 and June 26, and will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Good luck to any of you that applied for a ticket!
