World of Goo HD
At $4.99 this is one of the best puzzle indie games yet to hit the App Store. World of Goo HD is challenging, beautiful and the graphics set it apart form all other games. In World of Goo HD you have to guide a bunch of goo balls to the end of the level by using other goo balls to build structures that abide to the laws of gravity. You will have to think each level through and use the proprieties of special goo balls to hold your structures together. If your structure falls, you won’t be able to finish the level and will have to start that level again.
The music in World of Goo HD is highly entertaining and will keep you energized for most of the game. Some goo balls perform specific tasks. Some float, some stick to each other, some will adhere only to the same type of goo balls.
You will spend days playing this game and the best part of World of Goo HD is its replayability. You finish the game and will want to play it again. There are also special levels to be unlocked as you finish the game’s main levels.
Angry Birds HD
Angry Birds costs $2.99 and is one of the better-known games of the Apple and Android ecosystems. There’s hardly one person left on the face of the planet that owns a tablet or smartphone and who hasn’t yet played this game. Angry Birds HD is a puzzle game in which you control different birds, launched by a sling. The purpose of the game is to demolish a nearby castle made of wood, glass, stone and other materials. Each bird has a different power. Some explode in mid-air, some burrow into the castle walls. You will have to use the right bird to get at the pigs that took refuge in the 2D castle and make it so that every level completes by destroying the said castle and the pigs inside it.
Angry Birds has always been a fun game to play and its now even more so on the iPad Mini. There’s also an Angry Birds Space you might want to try out and a separate game called Bad Piggies, both developed by the same game company.
Carcassonne
Carcassonne ($9.99) is originally a board game that has been digitized and turned into a tablet game. In Carcassonne you and other players (six in total) have to build fortified structures by using random tiles assigned to you, and you have to do so as quickly as you can. You get points based on the scale and the size of the structure you have built when you place a person-shaped token on it. You will have to build roads and cities using this method.
On the iPad Mini this means many hours and days of fun. Carcassonne is easier to play on the iPad Mini’s small screen.
Rayman Jungle Run
Rayman Jungle Run is a side-scrolling 2D game that costs $2.99. You, as a player, control the movement of your character and you will have to pass obstacles by jumping across them or by climbing to avoid them. You can also attack the creatures you encounter and there’s plenty of action to be had. Rayman Jungle Run is an entertaining game and is based on a much older game called Rayman that was available on DOS machines many years ago. Bumpy Road costs $2.99 and is a truly unique game. You have to bump the road that moves alongside your car and it has interesting mechanics to do so. The road changes shape depending on how you tap it and it may so be you’ll encounter hills and valleys in Bumpy Road. It’s a simple game and a great way to waste some time on your iPad Mini.
Tiny Wings HD
So you have this bird that you roll down hills to be able to gather momentum and fly. Tiny Wings HD costs $2.99 and is controllable by both touches and swipes.
