The iPhone 6 To Have A 4.8 Inch Display According To Analyst
Apple’s WWDC 2013 began two days ago and, as expected by most of us, there was nothing on the upcoming iPhone 6 presented at the conference. However, that does not stop rumors from spreading. In a recent report by Glen Yeung, an analyst from Citi Research, it is revealed that the iPhone 6 will feature a 4.8 inch screen and its launch is rumored to take place earlier next year. In the report Mr.Yeung also mentioned other upcoming Apple devices such as the iPhone 5S, the iPad Mini Retina and the future iPad 5.
If Glen Yeung is right and the new iPhone 6 will feature a 4.8 inch screen it means that it will be approximately the same size as Samsung Galaxy S4′s 5 inch display. By comparison the iPhone 5 has a 4 inches screen, which is quite small by today’s standards. Even the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini features a 4.3 inch screen, and that’s .3 inches bigger than the iPhone 5′s screen; even so Samsung still calls it “Mini”. Considering this, it’s high time Apple upped the size of its smartphones’ screens.
Citi Research mentioned in a research note that the iPhone 5S “has been delayed by two to four weeks“. However, despite this, Glen Yeung doesn`t rule out the possibility that the iPhone 5s will be launched in September, but says that “volumes in September may consequently be challenged“.
Glen Yeung also believes that Apple will release two iPad Mini tablets. The fist one will be a direct competitor to the Amazon Kindle and Google Nexus 7 tablets and will be a little cheaper than the current iPad mini. About the second one, he says that it will feature a 2,048 x 1,536 pixels Retina display. About the next full size iPad, Yeung thinks that it will be more lightweight and slimmer than the current iPad 4. Regarding the release date of the iPad 5, he speculates that it is possible to be this September, together with the iPhone 5S.
About the World Wide Developers Conference that takes place this week, Yeung predicted that the only hardware that will be presented will be the upcoming MacBooks. He also predicted that the iRadio will be launched at the Conference, iRadio being a music streaming service. While he did not foresee the Mac Pro announcement, Glen Yeung was spot on on his predictions so his speculations regarding both the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 6 as well as regarding the upcoming iPads, are interesting to follow.
