Transfer your data from Android to your new iPhone

Changing your smart phone requires a lot of patience with the data you have already stored. Sometimes we have pictures which bring us great memories and we didn’t have time to transfer them on a computer; other times it is about the music that makes us sing in the morning on the way to work or the videos we created with the important people in our lives. And, maybe the most important, the contacts we have in the agenda. They are the proof of our interactions with different people we still want or need in our lives.
All these make the upgrade from a phone to another tricky. Still,to transfer data from an iPhone to another is quite easy and convenient, as you have the opportunity to transfer some of your settings also. But how you deal with moving your virtual life from a phone that has the Android system to an iPhone? Then, the process is more complex.
In the case of moving your data from an Android to an iPhone, please keep in mind that not all the available data on the phone will be transferred. You can move contacts, files, photos and videos. The call history and the text messages can just be removed and will be lost.
Now, you have a new iPhone, you are very proud of the investment but you need your picture & videos back. In the following lines you will learn how to have them back, transferring them from the old Android phone.
All you need to do this operation is the old and the new phone together with a computer.
We strongly advice you to follow each of the instructions below, in order to transfer the data correctly(even if it is about contacts, pictures or music). Now just take the Android phone maybe for its last usage and start the transfer.
How To Trasfer Data From Android To iPhone
1. You go to the Contacts section on the Android. After you already tapped the menu button you tap Import/ Export. Select Export to Storage, by tapping and select the data you want to have on the new phone (there is the option “Phone” which transfers everything available). Select OK and continue with step 2.
2. Connect the Android to the PC using a USB device. Select the Disk Drive mode for your smart phone. Now you go in My Computer or on your Mac desktop, where the smart phone will be seen as a drive (or,in some cases where there is an SD card, 2 drives)
3. In order not to search for the documents in the computer after the transfer, create a new folder and name it “Android”/ “Android stuff”/ “Android data”/ or whatever you feel like in order to find it easy. Now it’s time to focus on the documents you really need in order not to fill the memory of the iPhone with unnecessary data. Do not hurry up when you do this, as some data might be mixed in different folders or they might be hidden. When you decide upon the data you want in your iPhone just drag and drop the documents (including photos music or videos). After you did this operation, you must search for a file named VCF file. This file is very important as it is the one in which all your contacts are stored. Drag and drop it in the folder specially created for the iPhone.
Did you proceed with all these? Now it’s time for step 2: transfer the saved data into your new precious smart phone. The operation will need specific steps according to the type of data. Still, the first step, no matter which data you want to transfer is to set up and activate the new smart phone. Now, if this is already done, start transferring data.
So, first let’s take the pictures and videos. Connect the iPhone to iTunes. In the left sidebar you can find your phone’s name, by clicking it. This operation is the first required. Then, just go to the Photos tab, which you will find in the main window. Select “Sync photos” and then, from the drop-down menu, click “Choose folder”. Now go to desktop and select the Android data folder you want to be synced with the iPhone. Then, your photos should already appear in the iPhone’s photos app. Simple, isn’t it?
Still, how you proceed if you want to transfer the music?Just take the old Android folder from your desktop and move it in the new smart phone, through dragging and dropping. Pay attention to have it moved in the iTunes sidebar. More, if you want to transfer other music you have on your desktop (if you have a specific folder, copy it on the desktop), just do the same. The music will be automatically saved in the iPhone’s Music app.
We left the most important transfer for many of the users last: the contacts, so don’t turn off your computer, you will still need it.
First, you should set-up your e-mail account on your new smart phone (if you don’t know how to do it by yourself, just search for the How to articles on the internet; they might be very helpful). Send yourself an e-mail with the VCF file as an attachment – as it is saved in the computer. Then go to your e-mail address from the iPhone, open the e-mail and you will find the attachment at the beginning of the message.Tap the attachment and, while browsing, you will see at the top the function which permits you to transfer all the contacts. Then, just with a simple tap on the screen, your contacts will be saved to the new smart phone. Of course, there is also the possibility to rename them or add pictures to different persons, but, of course, this is only possible after the transfer is successfully made.
In the end, the transfer of the most important data that keeps yourself attached to a phone or another is an easy process. Maybe what will be harder is to get used to the system of operation in favour of the old one. But this is just a matter of time and soon you will get to love your new iPhone, that will also help you create memories (by taking pictures), memorize important stuff (as it has many calendar and notes apps) and have a good vibe, by listening to music. Good luck!
