US Department of Defense Will Order 650,000 iOS Powered Devices

Recently, we stumbled on a report which stated that the The United States Department of Defense, has made an order of more than half a million iOS devices. Our trustful sources, mentioned about this information that the government wants to upgrade and mobilize the current technology, thus they are acquiring up to 650. 000 iPod touches, iPads and iPhones.
Electronista knows more about this, and gave us some inside info concerning the subject. As a part of the mobile phones testing program, which is currently led by the Department of Defense, a command of 650,000 units (maybe more) was placed and is now pending, at the iOS device manufacturer, Cupertino. This happened when the first phase of the project ended, and as a response to a few smart initiatives.
The report states that those units are parted like this: 200,000 iPod touches, 120,000 iPads, 100,000 iPad minis, and the rest of them, more exactly 210,000 units are going to be different models of the iPhone. However, we don’t know yet any other specific models ordered, and neither their destination. All we know about this, is that some might go at the Pentagon, and some on the battlefield.
If you were wondering what will they do with so many pieces, well the answer is simple. The rumors say that they are going to replace a big part of the Blackberries used at this point by the Department of Defense, which means about 500,000 Blackberry units (more or less). Furthermore, the DoD stated at the beginning of this year, that they are going to put an end to their exclusive contract with the Blackberry company, and that they are now interested in engaging a relationship with iOS and Android gadgets manufacturers.
And, unfortunately the things get pretty worse for the Canadian phone manufacturer. Electronista mentioned in her post that she knows from certain sources that the test program for the new OS system, Blackberry 10, has been put on hold, because of the sequester. If, in the iOS devices case, the purchase of the devices was simply postponed, in Blackberry’s case it has been cancelled for good.
