Use Scrollable Widescreen Images As Wallpapers On The iPhone

There’s a new application in the Cydia store and it should interest you because it has something to do with your iPhone’s wallpapers. The iPhone uses a certain resolution to display an image. Setting a wallpaper usually means having to crop an image with an image editing app until it’s precisely the right size. WS Wallpaper does just that: it automatically crops any image to the right size and sets it as your iPhone wallpaper.

However there are other functions that are far more interesting when it comes to this nifty little app. One of them relates to the use of widescreen wallpapers. A widescreen wallpaper can be set as your iPhone’s wallpaper and each time you scroll into a different screen, the wallpaper will move with it. This is also applicable to the iPad, where a larger resolution image can make your eyes feast on the full lenght of it. As you navigate through the pages of the Springboard, the same image will continue to move forth and back depending on the direction you scroll.

You will need a jaibroken iDevice to accomplish this – that is to be able to install the free application. After installation, there will ve an icon for WS Wallpaper on your Springboard and you will have to use that every time you wish to set a new wallpaper. The app comes with it’s own example image that you can use to test and see how the app works. It works in conjunction with your Photos app that is embedded in your iOS version and upon tapping the icon of the WS Wallpaper app you’ll be taken to the album stored in Photos. Select an image and if the image in question already fits the screen, tap Done an it will be used as a wallpaper. You can also adjust it so that only a portion of it will be used as a wallpaper, should the image be larger than the screen.

The number of pages you have set in your Springboard is in direct corelation with the scrolling the wallpaper will do.

Use the BigBoss repo in the Cydia store to install this free app.
