In the iOS application management is strictly limited to multitasking panel brought by double-pressing the Home button. Apple believes that this should be enough for the iPhone and iPad users. Those who wonder how many tasks are actually running out there in the mobile OSes have to use third-party solutions. A new utility from Cydia offers an interesting new way to identify the active processes in the iOS 7.
The solution proposed by the designer and Surenix and implemented by Philip Bigarelloy, the developer, is called ActiveBoard. After installing the ActiveBoard on the iPhone the OS notifies that a particular application is in the OS memory using backlight – a special effect of white glow around the icons.
As the developer says, the ActiveBoard is an illustrative way to know which applications are in the iPhone memory and consume resources. If the process stops – the effect disappears. For this reason, at not all applications starting have illumination. Some, such as Cydia, or Game Center, are unloaded from the memory immediately after returning to the desktop.
The second feature of the ActiveBoard is special signaling when you receive a notifications. Whenever an application receives a notification its icon starts to glow with red to indicate that the user has unread messages. Even if the iPhone was locked, after the screen is turned on the backlight will remind the owner to answer the missed SMS or tweet.
The ActiveBoard tweek costs $1.99, you can find it in the standard BigBoss repository.
