The US bureau of patents and trademarks registered Apple’s patent on the smart vehicles technology, which allows to operate a car with a smartphone. This was reported by Business Insider.

The technology patented by Apple, combines “car management systems with the geozones identification.” First the new technology allows the iPhone user to find their car in the street using the signal sent to the mobile device, and then, if necessary, to turn on the ignition, open or close a window, door, bonnet or boot.

The document, entitled “Accessory control with geo-fencing» describes the system operation. It actually lets you restrict the movement of the car. This is achieved by using a special sensor. It connects to iPhone and lets you locate the vehicle. Thanks to this a smartphone owner can limit the boundaries in which the vehicle can move. If the car goes out of the area specified, the mobile device receives a notification. In such situations, the driver can see the forced shutdown of the engine.

According to the source, Apple filed a patent in June 2012, but only obtained it on 21 October this year.

This application is not the first in a series of Apple’s patents, associated with cars. Last year the company registered a patent on the possibility of key-less access to the car. Using the mobile device, users can remotely open the door using a secure wireless connection. As planned by the American corporation, the smartphone will also perform functions such as engine start, opening the windows and moonroof, as well as the bonnet and access the settings like arrangement of the mirrors, steering column, seats, etc.

In addition, Apple will contribute to the driving safety and reduction of the risk of getting into an accident. The mobile technology offered will limit the maximum speed and the audio volume, will remind to fasten the seat belt and will prevent disabling both the “dead zone” tracking system and the stabilization system.
