FunnyorDie has just released iSteve, a Steve Jobs parody

Funny or Die’s “iSteve” was released today. You know Funny or Die, don’t you? It is a comedy website founded by Gary Sanchez Productions (which is Adam McKay’s and Will Ferrell production company) and it offers both original and user generated content. The comedy website offers exclusive materials from very known contributors (James Franco and Judd Apatow, to name a few). iSteve is a biopic on the life of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, made entirely by Funny or Die and it was supposed to be released on Monday. However due to the Boston Marathon bombing the Funny or Die website decided to delay the film’s release for Thursday. It seems however that the film aired a day early then the official rescheduled date.
“iSteve” is 78 minutes (1 hour and 18 minutes) long, almost as long as some feature length movies. It is the longest Funny or Die video so far, and judging by length it can be said it is a movie. The Funny or Die made movie stars Justin Long (he starred in the first Jeepers Creepers movie and also in Dodgeball) as Steve Jobs. His co-stars are Jorge Garcia (if you watched the Lost TV Show you remember him as Hugo “Hurley” Reyes) as Steve Wozniak, James Urbaniak (he played in another Funny or Die video, “Human Centipede Anonymous”) as Bill Gates and Michaela Watkins as Melinda Gates.
The Funny or Die “iSteve” movie is directed by Ryan Perez and it is also the first movie based on the life of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, since his death almost two years ago in October 2011. “iSteve” is the first but not the last movie based on Steve Jobs’ life that will be released in the coming months. Another two movies are are in different stages of production. “Jobs”, an indie movie starring Ashton Kutcher as Apple’s co-founder was shown in January this year at the Sundance Festival. However there is no official word on a theatrical release so far. Another (big budget this time) movie based on Steve Jobs’ life is currently in development; the project is funded by Sony and the screenplay is written by Aaron Sorkin (his CV includes movies such as The Social Network and Writer). There are not many details on this big budget movie funded by Sony but what is sure is that we shouldn’t expect it anytime soon.
Back to Funny or Die’s “iSteve”, you can watch it here. It is not a big budget movie, like the aforementioned Sony funded film, but it does have some talent behind it. We won’t comment on the movie; we would rather like you to form your own opinion and we encourage you to share your it with us, via the comments section below.
