HTC One 2 Leaked Mockups

You can say that HTC One 2 (also known as the HTC M8) is the Taiwanese company’s worst kept secret. Not long ago we told you about HTC’s upcoming flagship release date leak; a new leak seems to have found its way to the Internet. The leak is a HTC One 2 model that was used by accessory manufacturers. HTC’s current flagship smartphone, the HTC One will get a successor this year and it will be of course named HTC One 2 (it is rumored to have the code name HTC M8). While the successor to last year’s flagship has not been officially unveiled by HTC, a negligent patent judge from the U.K. revealed that the Taiwanese company will launch the HTC One 2 in early 2014. Judge Richard Arnold assumed that the current HTC One flagship will get a successor that will ship during the first quarter of 2014, probably in late February or during the first half of March.
The HTC One 2 is allegedly shown in a couple of images released on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging web site; the upcoming flagship from HTC is shown as a wax model. We do not know if the images are actually to scale, but if they are then the HTC One 2 features a body design close to the current HTC One’s but with a larger display, most likely a 5 inches display, 0.3 inches larger than HTC One’s 4.7 inches display.
The HTC One 2 will probably feature almost the same hardware as last year’s HTC One. This means that the second generation HTC One will be be released with a quad core 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 System on Chip and 2 GB of RAM. It will also run the latest mobile OS from Google, Android 4.4 KitKat with the latest version of HTC’s user interface (HTC Sense 6.0) on top of it. As mentioned above, it will feature a 5 inch display capable of a Full High Definition resolution (1920 x 1080) and a 4 MP UltraPixel rear camera and a 2.1 MP front facing camera sensor. Regarding internal storage, the HTC One 2 will probably come with 16 GB. Keep in mind that these are guesstimated rumors and the actual specs could be completely different when the HTC One 2 will be released in late February or during the first half of March.
You will notice that the fingerprint sensor included in the HTC One Max, cannot be seen in the leaked mockups of the HTC One 2. This may not be bad news as HTC One Max’s fingerprint sensor was criticized by a lot of users. Another interesting thing to notice is that the HTC One 2 could get a dual LED flash, not unlike the one included in Apple’s current flagship, the iPhone 5S. According to Apple, the use of white and amber LEDs results in better natural color balance in pictures that are taken using the smartphone’s flash.
It is extremely likely that this year’s flagship from HTC will be officially announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) that will begin next month, on February 24th in Barcelona and it will be released not long after the unveiling. As we already told you, the time frame was mentioned by U.K. judge Richard Arnold during HTC’s court battle with Nokia. Are you excited about the upcoming HTC One 2 or do you think it will be just more of the same (which might not necessarily be a bad thing)? Leave a comment in the dedicated section below.
