iOS 8.1 Supporting Apple Pay will be Released on Oct. 20

The release of the updated iOS 8.1 operating system will be held on October 20. This release is due to the launch of the new Apple Pay payment service. This is reported by the Bank of Innovation citing informed sources.
“A source close to Apple, confirmed that Apple Pay service will be integrated in the updated iOS 8.1. We expect that the release will be dedicated to a special conference, in which a new iPad tablet will be presented. According to some reports, iOS 8.1 will be released on Monday, 20 October “.
iOS 8.1 as the first beta version debuted on September 29 - a few days after the iOS 8.0.2 release . This update fixed some bugs from previous builds and introduced some minor changes in the OS. The source suggests that integration with Apple Pay service will be a key new feature in iOS 8.1.
Earlier this week, sources reported that Apple decided to change the traditional scheme of updates releases for iOS 8. According to some reports, the company is currently preparing three big updates for the “Eight» – iOS 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3. The first of them may come in the nearest future.
The Cupertino-based company mentioned the upcoming launch of Apple Pay early in September. Apple hopes that the service will make customers forget about their wallets and let them purchase with the help of iPhones and Apple Watches. The system is based on the technology of the near-field communication (NFC), which, however, has difficulty recognising vendors. Retailers are encouraged to establish one-touch readers at the checkout to service the payments. According to Gartner analysts,l ess than 10% of retailers in the United States have such readers.
Apple claims that iPhone owners will be able to use Apple Pay at 220,000 retail outlets in the United States, including McDonald’s, Bloomingdale and Macy’s, starting in October of this year. In 2015, the service will be available in Europe.
