iPad Mini 2 to Come With Improved CPU, Retina Display, and Cameras, Release Date Still Uncertain

In the last couple of days the internet has been rumoring about a new leak that appeared online, one that refers to some specifications of the new iPad Mini, some of them confirming some older rumors such as an updated processor and display, improved cameras and Retina display. So, as pointed out by this new leak, the new generation of mini iPads will be featuring a Retina Display with a capacity of 2048 x 1536 pixels, and will come in 7.9 inches size. This capacity is currently found in the full size iPads belonging to the third and fourth generation. We’re also expecting to see a processor improvement, as the leak mentions a new Apple processor, the dual-core A6X.
The new screen resolution that the new iPad Mini is going to be improved with, is going to make the little tablet sharp and even more pixel dense than the big iPad, considering that it will feature a 324 pixel/inch vs the full-size iPad’s density of 324 pixels/inch spread over a 9.7 inches screen.
More than that, it looks like the new iPad mini 2 with Retina Display will also be featuring a thinner bezel than its predecessor. Our source, MobileLeaks didn’t mention from where they received that information, but they posted some images of the tiny tablet which pointed out that if looked at from the front, the right and left bezels cannot be noticed at all.
While the first iPad mini features really slim bezels on the sides, its successor’s design seems to be eliminating them for good. There were some older photos of it leaked on the web, but they only pictured the backplate of the iPad mini 2 Retina Display.
Furthermore, the alleged leak presents a rear iSight camera of 8 MP, while the camera from the front features Facetime, HD video calls and will have a capacity of 2 MP. Also mentioned in the leak are the models of the new iPad mini generation, and it will come in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB internal memory, which means that we won’t see a 128 GB internal storage model, as we saw in the fourth generation of the full size iPad.
Given the space needed in order to host properly the new resolution display and probably a bigger battery, the leak suggests that the iPad Mini 2 will grow slightly thicker, so we should expect to see a 7.5 mm thick iPad mini. However, this information makes a lot of sense, if we think that when Apple introduced the Retina Display into the iPad 3, the device’s thickness was also sligthly increased.
Even though we’re not sure if the information is fully accurate, most of Apple fans and market analysts are expecting to see a new Retina Display iPad mini 2, sometimes during the next fall.
