These Are The ‘Galaxy Gifts’ For The Samsung Galaxy S5

Last month, at the Unpacked 5 event held in Barcelona, Spain at the Mobile World Congress 2014, Samsung unveiled its latest flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S5. The newest entry in the Galaxy S series refines and improves upon last year’s Galaxy S4. The fifth Galaxy S smartphone includes a fingerprint sensor, just like the iPhone 5S, probably due to Samsung’s decision to pursue Apple when it comes to biometric implementation. The upcoming flagship from Samsung also features a 5.1 inches Super AMOLED panel (that is 0.1 inches larger than that of the Galaxy S4). Samsung Galaxy S5?s display is also capable of a Full high Definition resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Its specs were also upgraded as the Samsung Galaxy S5 is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad core Snapdragon 801 System on Chip with 2 Gb of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. By comparison, the fourth Galaxy S features a lower clocked CPU, a 1.9 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 System on Chip with 2 Gb of RAM and an Adreno 320 GPU.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 also features a removable Li-ion 2800 mAh battery that offers a low power mode which is enabled when battery life is low and a 16 MP camera sensor that includes a higher quality image sensor than the fourth Galaxy S, 4K video recording, phase detection auto focus (which can focus in around 0.3 seconds) and real time HDR for photos and videos. The Samsung Galaxy S5 runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat. All in all, it is a high end smartphone with up to date specs and features.
Some of you may remember that when it was unveiled, Samsung promised that whoever buys the Samsung Galaxy S5 next month when it will be released, will enjoy a lot of free subscriptions to many online services, via the South Korean company’s Galaxy Gifts program. We now know exactly what these subscriptions are for. Among the offered services, there is of course Dropbox storage space (50 GB of storage) but there are also subscriptions for a year for both Evernote Premium ( a suite of software and services designed for note taking and archiving. ), Bloomberg Businessweek ( weekly business magazine that provides information and interpretation about what was happening in the business world) and a 6 month subscription to the Wall Street Journal. The offer also includes subscriptions to fitness services such as RunKeeper and MapMyFitness, a pace tracking service.
Unsurprisingly, not only are most of these offers related to fitness services (Lark, Skimble, RunKeeper and MapMyFitness), but the offer for a free year of RunKeeper is among the best, like the Paypal offer (totaling $50 or more in value). Speaking of Paypal, we mentioned that Samsung partnered with Paypal so that the Samsung Galaxy S5?s fingerprint sensor can authenticate online purchases made through the popular e-commerce platform, despite purchases made through Google’s Play Store not being able to be authenticated with the Galaxy S5?s fingerprint sensor.
According to the South Korean company, the offers will “make your GALAXY S5 experience even more enjoyable and productive“. We can even say they are a bit health and fitness oriented, as the latest Galaxy S will be released with a heart rate sensor that will work together with Samsung’s S Health app to monitor your fitness levels during workouts and throughout the day, and also to offer guided coaching and feedback.
