Apple Released an Update for the Podcasts Application with Improved Browsing, and Support for Siri and CarPlay
Following the iTunes 11.2, Apple has released a new version of the Podcasts mobile application containing a series of long-awaited improvements. Among the major changes of the 2.1 update are the improved episode browsing, support for the Siri voice assistant and the CarPlay technology.
Podcasts Release 2.1 appeared simultaneously with the new version of the iTunes. The updated application allows you to find new episodes quickly, save your favorite episodes for later enjoying them in the offline mode, and use the automatic deletion after playing podcasts.
Now supporting the Siri personal assistant the updated client provides the opportunity to start playback with the words “Play podcasts,” or saying the name of the podcast, like “Play TEDTalks”. Among other features the updated program has support for the CarPlay service and the AirDrop wireless technology. The update also fixes problems after syncing with iTunes and improves stability when downloading podcasts.
Recap: in the Podcasts 2 app the company offered an updated design in the look and feel of the iOS 7 and some new useful features. So, the podcasts shop became available in the “Selection” tab, so it is easier to find the new items. The new “Search” tab simplifies the search for programs even further. In the “Top Charts” the podcasts and episodes are displayed as a simple list, so it is easy to determine the most popular. In addition, the stations can be viewed as a list of episodes or group them by podcast.

Improved Episode Browsing
• Quickly find episodes you haven’t listened to in the new Unplayed tab
• Browse episodes that are available to download or stream in the Feed tab
• Save your favorite episodes to keep them offline
• Episodes can now be automatically deleted after you play them
• Tap on links that appear in podcast and episode descriptions to open them in SafariAsk Siri
• You can now ask Siri to play podcast episodes by simply saying “play podcasts”
• To play specific podcasts or stations, just ask Siri to play them by name, like “play TEDTalks”
