LG G3 400x250 LG G3 To Be Released In June 2014

This week was full of news about LG’s upcoming flagship, the LG G3. At first we got a look at the updated Optimus user interface (featuring a cleaner, more flat aesthetic) that the LG G3 will use over the Android mobile Operating System. Then we got the smartphone’s leaked specs from the user agent profile of the LG LS990 (which is the LG G3 model number from US carrier Sprint). After the leaked specs, we got our first look at the device in the form of a leaked picture of the LG G3’s screen displaying the AnTuTu Benchmark results screen, which actually contradicts some of the leaked specs (such as the pixels per inch density of LG G3’s display). Now we have leaked date for the smartphone’s unveiling.

LG’s flagship from last year, the G2 was unveiled at a press event in New York City on August 7 2013, and it was released the next month, in September 2013. As a result, it is expected that LG would unveil and release its successor, the LG G3, during this year’s Summer, even though most of its competitors have already unveiled and released their 2014 flagships: Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S5 and released it last week, HTC announced the second generation HTC One (codenamed M8) which was released last month at the same day as its unveiling (March 25) and Sony unveiled the Sony Xperia Z2 at this year’s CES. A new report suggest that LG is going to release the G3 this Summer, in June.

Sources from South Korea report that LG is going to unveil the G3 in a conference this June and release it a month later, in July 2014. While many industry analysts expected LG to follow the exact scenario from last year, when they unveiled the LG G2 in August and released it a month later, it seems that LG adopted another strategy, perhaps due to not wanting to be left behind, as most of its competitors have already unveiled and released their 2014 flagships. A decision that is totally understandable, in a fast moving industry as the mobile industry.

The recently leaked image showing AnTuTu Benchmark’s results screen confirmed the rumors suggesting that the LG G3 will feature a display capable of rendering in Quad HD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) a resolution that is better than that of the Samsung Galaxy S5. The AnTuTu Benchmark results screen also lists LG G3?s GPU as an Adreno 330, which is actually included in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 System on Chip. That would put the LG G3 on the same level as the other flagship released this year, when it comes to processing power. There will also be a new LG G3 variant with an octo core CPU; however, only a few markets will receive this version.

The LG G3 will also come with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage that can be upgraded via a micro SD card with up to 64 GB; a 13 MP rear camera (with optical image stabilization and able to record videos in 4K resolution) was also confirmed plus a 2.1 MP front camera. Regarding connectivity, the LG G3 will support LTE, EVDO, IS2000, GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth plus a NFC (near filed communication) and IR blaster.
